My first experience of the famous Ganesh Visarjan was an extreme in more ways than one, stumbling through the beaches of Juhu and Girgaon Chowpatty. As mesmerised as I was by the colours, chaos and the administrative detailing that accompanied the celebration, I was equally appalled by the lack of respect for the beaches where the idols were made to rest.
